Name: Bette-Lou Rush
Title/Company/Business: Senior Vice President, Guilford Savings Bank, Community Bank
How are you a partner in community? I am a partner as a parent of two children as well as a member of the business segment that services people in the Clinton community.
Why do you feel it is important to get involved? After looking at all of the non-profit organizations in Clinton, I couldn’t think of a better program to get involved with than one that supports the values I work hard to instill in my children. Helping children make smart and healthy choices as they face peer pressure and the challenges of growing up is an important goal. I want all the children in our community to know that there are resources both within their home and family units as well as outside of the home through religious organizations, the school system, the police department and even
the business owners throughout the town. I also hope to instill a sense of community involvement in my 13 year old son through the Eliot REACT program that PiC has created. One of the core tenets of Guilford Savings Bank is to give back to the communities we serve, and I’m proud to say that the Bank supports me and all of our employees through this commitment and dedication to servicing the communities in which we live and do business.
What do you hope to contribute or accomplish? PiC is facing a unique venture in becoming a sustainable organization that can stand on its own, as long-term grant funding comes to an end. My hope is to put my business acumen to use in guiding this hard-working group of people to realize that goal.
If Ben & Jerry’s named an ice cream after you, what would it be called? Spunky Monkey – I am always seeking that next opportunity to challenge myself, both mentally and physically, and get involved in new and exciting activities.
