Shelby Mehmet is a Junior at Morgan who is very busy every day inspiring both young and old to be their best, to be brave, and to go after their goals. Clinton is so lucky to have a young lady like Shelby, who successfully role models breaking out of her comfort zone and reaching for new aspirations!

How are you a Partner in Community? I am a board member for PiC, and I co-chair the Take Action Committee. I am co- Vice President of REACT, PiC’s youth group at Morgan. I am in knitting club and Peer Advocates. I am a board member for CAPP, which stands for CT Association of Prevention Professionals. I, along with two other students, represent Morgan on the Clinton Board of Education. I volunteer in the community and I am a unified runner for the Special Olympics. I assist with Eliot REACT and I also help with Clinton Youth and Family’s Fantastic Friends program when I can.
Why do you feel it is important to get involved? When you get involved, you have the opportunity to make a positive impact in your community, your school, as well as in yourself. You can make a difference. It’s like a ripple effect. You inspire someone, and then they inspire someone else. Imagine the changes that can be made!
What do you want to contribute or accomplish? I want to help make Clinton a better place than it is now. I want to make a difference. I want to inspire people. I aspire to inspire! I want to inspire others to be brave.
